British Oak Montessori
Foundation Studies
1 & 2
Early Years Foundation Stages 1 & 2 are a crucial time for children’s holistic development. British Oak Montessori follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to provide a well rounded education encompassing all areas of learning.
Our Teachers focus on supporting children with their developing literacy, numeracy, creativity, communication, and social skills through a combination of structured lessons and play-based exploration.
Separate classrooms allow us to tailor our approach to each child’s developmental stage and individual needs. Our dedicated Teachers create a positive and engaging learning environment where children can thrive, learn, and grow while building a strong foundation for future education. Through well-planned activities, responsive teaching, and nurturing care, we provide a comprehensive educational experience that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.Â
Our Foundation Studies 1 & 2 programs includes
- Increasingly complex learning opportunities
- Dedicated teachers who are positive and engaging
- A mixture of play-based learning and structured activities

Foundations Studies 1 & 2 Programs
Our 3 to 4 age group (Foundation Stage 1) will come into their classroom with access to all the activities to the 2-3year old’s classroom but will have further opportunities to engage in the later stages of Montessori learning. Depending on their individual level, which is recorded, their key person will introduce them to these later materials, including word building, writing, addition, subtraction, and seguin board for the numbers above 10.
Children will still have access to activities for the early stages of 1-10 and all other materials, including world maps, practical life, sensorial, language and mathematics. Our teachers change the Practical Life and Sensorial materials frequently to challenge the children further, and keep them engaged – in the same way they change other classroom activities such as sand and water play, block play, books, home corner.
Students will be introduced to increasingly complex activities in the 7 areas of learning and development that comprise the Early Years Foundation stage framework:

At British Oak Montessori, our educational approach is tailored for children aged six and under. We seamlessly blend Montessori principles with the British curriculum, providing a nurturing environment that fosters self-directed learning during these formative years.
